Our Story

Danish Oak is a family-owned custom cabinetry and woodworking business rooted in Hampton, Nebraska, with a story built on craftsmanship, growth, and community.

Founded in 2004 by Dane Schafer, Danish Oak began as a small furniture refinishing and restoration shop. What started in a 765-square-foot space has steadily grown over the past two decades into a full-scale custom cabinet operation serving homeowners, builders, and contractors across the region. Today, Dane and his wife Jennifer proudly co-own the business, continuing to shape its direction with the same hands-on care and attention to detail that defined its early days.

Built to Grow — With Quality at the Core

Over the years, Danish Oak has expanded both its footprint and its capabilities. Strategic investments in facilities, technology, and people have allowed the shop to evolve without ever losing sight of what matters most: building high-quality, custom products that last.

A major milestone came with the addition of state-of-the-art CNC technology, dramatically increasing precision, efficiency, and capacity. This technology allows Danish Oak to produce everything from single custom projects to full-house cabinetry with exceptional consistency and accuracy—down to the thousandth of an inch—while reducing waste and turnaround time.

As production increased, so did the need for space. Danish Oak expanded into the neighboring former Smith True Value Hardware building on Main Street, transforming it into a 10,000-square-foot facility that now houses an expansive showroom, offices, assembly space, and shipping operations. This expansion marked a turning point, allowing the company to stock materials on hand, streamline workflow, and better serve customers without delays caused by supply shortages.

A Showroom Designed to Inspire

The Danish Oak showroom was created to help customers truly envision their future spaces. Visitors can explore a wide range of cabinet styles, wood species, finishes, flooring options, tile, and functional accessories such as slide-outs, trash systems, mixer lifts, and utensil trays.

From walnut and clear hickory cabinetry to onyx showers, vanities, and countertops, the showroom showcases both beauty and practicality—giving homeowners and contractors alike the confidence to make informed design decisions.

Family, Team, and Community

Danish Oak is proud to be a second-generation business. Dane and Jennifer’s son, Drake Schafer, joined the team full-time after earning his degree in Building Construction Technology. Having grown up alongside the business, Drake now plays a key role in operations and CNC production, helping guide Danish Oak into its next chapter.

The company’s continued success is also driven by a dedicated team of skilled employees who handle everything from production and finishing to customer coordination and logistics. As Danish Oak has grown, so has its staff—each person carefully placed to ensure quality, efficiency, and exceptional service.

Equally important is the support of the Hampton community and local families who helped make expansion possible. Danish Oak remains deeply grateful for the relationships that have shaped its journey and continues to give back by staying rooted locally while serving a growing regional market.
